No. 12 Bulldogs Continue Play in the Fresno Regional

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State will await the winner of the Sacramento State vs. San Diego State loser-out game as the Bulldogs will play them in the 5:00 p.m. game Saturday night at Bulldog Diamond. The Bulldogs fell out of the winner's bracket in the Fresno Regional of the NCAA Tournament, losing 3-0 to Cal.
Cal took the lead 2-0 in the bottom of the third with the bases loaded and only one out. They would get the third and final run of the game on a sacrifice fly to right field.
Marissa Drewrey pitched a complete game shutout for the Bears, allowing six hits and striking out 10.
Morgan Melloh for the Bulldogs pitched a complete game as well, her 41st of the season, tying her for second in the single-season record books. By making her 56 appearance on the season, she sets a new single-season school record. Melloh had six strikeouts in the game and ups her school record with 437 on the year.
The Bulldogs are now 52-12 on the season and Melloh is 40-8. Cal improves to 42-24.
The Bulldogs fall into the loser's bracket and play the winner of the San Diego State vs. Sacramento State game at approximately 5:00 p.m. Saturday night. The winner of that game will advance to play Cal in the Fresno Regional Championship at 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
