FRESNO, Calif - It has been three short weeks since the Bulldog baseball team accomplished what no other male sport at Fresno State has done, win a national championship. Life is starting to get back to normal for the student-athletes that defeated six ranked teams en route to becoming the lowest seeded team to win a national championship in any sport.
The team has been honored all over for their teamwork, determination, and hard-work. Fresno State honored the team with a huge celebration at Pete Beiden field, where thousands showed up to show their support and Mayor Alan Autry presented them with the key to the city.
The Bulldogs were also nominated for an ESPY by ESPN and are nominated in the Biggest Upset category. Coach Batesole, Steve Susdorf, Justin Wilson and Steve Detwiler will head to Los Angeles later this week for the show. Fresno State was also honored at the state capital by Senate Republican Leader Dave Cogdill and Assembly Republican Leader Mike Villines.
The team was also recognized by local government and councils in Fresno, Clovis City, and Tulare for their post-season run.
