FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State women's golf coach Angie Cates-Moore announced the signing of Louisa Lies to a National Letter of Intent. Lies of Weinheim, Germany, will join two junior college transfers who will compete for the Bulldogs this fall.
Lies recent accomplishments have established her as one of the premier young golfers in Germany in the past few years. In 2007, she was upgraded to the first division of Germany's women's team after winning the Harder German Junior Masters and taking seventh at the German National Championships in 2006.
"Louisa has a tremendous amount of talent," said Cates-Moore. "She has a beautiful golf swing with a lot of power. She knows that improvements with putting will help her contend with the best in the nation."
In 2005, Lies was a national team member, placing fourth at the Harder-German Junior Masters and eighth at the German National Championships.
"Louisa will add depth to our lineup," said Cates-Moore.
The Bulldogs' open the season on Sept. 8, 2008 with the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic at Fort Collins, Colo.
