FRESNO, Calif. - The 2007-08 year was a memorable year for the Fresno State athletic department. Not only did the Bulldogs win the 2008 National Championship in baseball but the program also won conference championships in women's basketball, women's tennis, women's golf and baseball. The Bulldogs won conference tournaments in women's basketball and baseball.
The WAC championships won by women's basketball and golf were the first for their respective sports while the women's tennis team won their seventh straight WAC title and baseball third straight.
The success the Bulldogs had this year earned them the WAC Commissioners Cup for the first time in school history and SI.com just ranked Fresno State No. 18 for most successful programs in 2007-08. The points were based on 11 men's and 11 women's sports chosen by SI.com.
The Bulldogs garnered 28.5 points and the determination was 10 points for a national championship, three points per sport for winning a regular season conference title and an additional point for winning the conference tournament.
