Bulldogs head to Colorado

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's soccer team travels to Colorado this week to play Colorado and Denver in the University of Colorado tournament. The Bulldogs face Denver at 2 p.m. on Sept. 19 and Colorado at 1 p.m. on Sept. 21.
"This weekend we will be playing 2 teams that are in the Top 30 in the country," said Coach Steve Springthorpe. "It will be a very good challenge for our team."
The last time that Fresno State played either school was in 2002. The Bulldogs lost, 3-0, to Colorado and lost, 2-0, to Denver.
Colorado is off to a 5-1-1 start and earned two more wins last week after defeating Memphis and Mississippi. Denver's overall record is 3-1-1 and earned a win over Air Force, but picked up their first loss to Colorado College last week.
"We started slowly the first 4 games but we seem to be playing well the last two weeks," said Springthorpe. "We look forward to seeing where our team is at this point and it will give us a chance to see how we stack up against 2 of the best teams in the country."
The Bulldogs head to Colorado with a two game win streak after defeating Florida International and Eastern Kentucky. Megan Ashjian scored her first goal to lift Fresno State over FIU, 1-0.
Kaitlyn Revel recorded her second shutout of the season. The Bulldog defense has allowed a total of one shot in the last two games.
"Join the State, Fresno State!" - The Bulldogs hit the road for the University of Colorado Tournament September 19-21. The Bulldogs battle Denver on Friday, September 19 at 1:00 p.m. and Colorado on Sunday, September 21 at 12:00 p.m. The `Dogs return home on Friday, September 26 against Seattle University at 7:00 p.m. September is Youth Soccer Month. All youth soccer players 8th grade and under who wear their jerseys get in for free and their rest of the family is admitted for $2 per person.
