Garcia Leads the Way at Stanford

FRESNO, Calif. - Both the men's and women's cross country teams put on solid performances at the Stanford Invitational on Saturday morning from the Stanford Golf Course. Erick Garcia paced the men in their 8K to 15th place as a team, while the women took 25th in 6K.
The Bulldogs used the race as a preview of the NCAA Regional as the teams will compete at the Stanford Golf Course at the end of the season.
Garcia continued to lead the way for the Bulldogs, finishing in 22nd place out of the 234 competitors in a season-best time of 25:12.
Junior Frank Sanders was Fresno State's number two racer, placing 50th with a time of 25:51. Eric Battles filled in the third spot with a 107th finish at 27:02. Max Hernandez had a solid personal performance, taking 116th and timing in at 27:14. Brandon Geis rounded out the team's top five, clocking in at 27:30 for 136th.
Junior Marissa McPhail led the Bulldog women through the 6K course. McPhail crossed the line as the 99th finisher of the 278 racers with a time of 23:22. Jennifer Hernandez continued to improve with a time of 23:43 for 127th. The third place scorer for the Bulldogs, Briana Cleary, clocked in at 24:24 for 171st. Sasha Souder and Jocellyn Oviedo filled in fourth and fifth place finishers for the Bulldogs, timing in at 27:29 and 27:55 respectively.
Fresno State travels to the Pepperdine Invitational next Saturday in Malibu, Calif.
