FRESNO, Calif. - The women's golf team is in eighth place out of 20 teams today at the CU Heather Farr Memorial at the Omni Interlocken Golf Course in Broomfield, Colo. The Bulldogs finished 18-over after two rounds with scores of 291 and 303.
The first round team score of 291 ties the Bulldogs all time low. The previous 291 was shot at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic in 2006.
Taylor Siebert led the Bulldogs today. She is tied for seventh place after shooting 70 and 71. At three under par, she is just five strokes away from the leaders.
In a tie for first place are CSU-Long Beach's Kay Hoey (65, 71-136) and Notre Dame's Hyun Park (70, 66-136).
"Taylor played really well today. She always plays well in Colorado," said Coach Angie Cates-Moore.
"She is mentally tough and I knew that she would bounce back this tournament and not worry about her performance last week."
Hali Coppin shot a 75 and a 77 and Chelsea Czinski shot a 72 and an 80 to finish eight-over and tied for 47th place. Lindi Covarrubias and Pia Escandon both tied for 53rd place shooting (77, 76-153) and (74, 79-153), respectively.
Notre Dame (288,281-569) is currently in first place shooting seven-under par. In second is the host school, Colorado (286,291-577), shooting one-under par. Third place is occupied by CSU-Long Beach (289,292-581) shooting five-over.
The third and final round will begin Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m PT with a shotgun start.
