FRESNO, Calif.- Senior Taylor Siebert and freshman Louisa Lies lead the Fresno State women's golf team after two rounds at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic at the Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo.
Junior Hali Coppin and Lies both shot a first round of 72 to shoot even par. Coppin finished the day in a tie for 41st along with teammate, junior Lindi Covarrubias. Covarrubias shot a first round of 77 and a second round of 73. Junior Pia Escandon shot two solid rounds (75-73- 148). She is currently tied for 36th place. Siebert (146/+2) shot first and second rounds of 73 to finish tied for 21st place. Siebert leads the Bulldogs after tying for seventh place in 2007.
Fresno State (292-294 - 586/+10) will enter the third and final round in seventh place out of 19 teams. California (557) is the current leader five strokes ahead of Colorado (562). Louisville (570) is in third place followed by San Jose State (579) and Long Beach State (580) to round out the top five.
"Overall the team did well, Louisa also had a great first round for a freshman," head coach Angie Cates-Moore said.
"Taylor is also showing great consistency and poise on the golf course. We usually play well at this tournament. This is a great field and we are looking forward to a solid final round for our team and hopefully move up the leader board."
