FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State's 22nd-ranked Anastasia Petukhova secured a place in the ITA All-American main draw consolation finals by defeating No. 53 Allison Ramos of USC, 6-0, 6-0, on Saturday in Los Angeles.
Ramos came into the match with some momentum after she eliminated top-ranked Maria Mosolva of Northwestern from the tournament the night before. However Petukhova would remain undeterred and came in well-prepared for the matchup on Saturday, as she shut out Ramos in both sets.
"Anastasia played very well and very focused," Fresno State head coach Simon Thibodeau said. "She took very good care of the ball and served very well. She is getting better and better every match. It was a flawless match."
Petukhova will meet No. 11 Yasmin Schnack of UCLA for the consolation finals on Sunday at 9 a.m.
