Petukhova to Consolation Bracket

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State's No. 22 Anastasia Petukhova will now look to make a run in the consolation round of the ITA All-American main draw, after a 6-0, 6-2 loss to No. 8 Irina Falconi of Georgia Tech on Thursday in Los Angeles.
Petukhova stuck to her game plan, but Falconi also came well-prepared, as she advanced to the second round.
"Anastasia played a good game, but Falconi had an answer for every shot she hit today," head coach Simon Thibodeau said. "Now we will focus on the consolation round."
Petukhova will face WAC foe No. 47 Pichittra Thongdach of Boise State on Friday at 12:45 p.m. for the first round of the consolation bracket of the tournament. Which ever player emerges victourious will face the winner of No. 10 Fani Chifchieva of Auburn or Texas' Aeriel Ellis on Friday at 3:45 p.m.
