FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldogs entered day two in 11th place in the overall team standings, which included a record breaking effort by Freshman Dani Yoho in the 50 freestyle event, an 11th place finish in the 400 medley relay and a 15th place finish in the 200 freestyle relay.
The Bulldogs hit the pool on Friday with the same poise and posture as they carried in day one showing that they are there to compete with some of the best. Fresno State set season best times in all events including a lightening-fast performance by freshman Brittney Vogel in the 100 breaststroke event.
Vogel's time of 1:03.4 was a mere three tenths of a second off of the all-time school record of 1:03.1 and was good enough for seventh place overall in the event.
"Brittany was a stud today," said head coach Jeanne Flack. "She had a great relay last night and got up there today and raced her heart out against some of the best swimmers in the country. I am extremely proud of her."
Vogel also finished 39th out of 82 swimmers in the 400 individual medley event making her the top `Dog for the day.
Sophomore standout Heidi Gjoen, brought it all to the table in day two with a strong finish of 20th in the 100 backstroke event out of 129 swimmers.
Freshman Rayanne Nguyen also did her part finishing 32nd overall out of 148 swimmers in the 100 butterfly event recording a season-best time of 57.90.
The `Dogs look to come back strong yet again on the final day of the meet on Saturday as they work their way up the standings.
"These are some of the best teams in the country and we are up towards the top of the chart competing in every event," said Fleck. "I am so proud of our team and I can't wait to see what we do here tomorrow."
