`Dogs Battle With No. 3 Hawai'i

FRESNO, Calif. - In its only match of the week, the Fresno State volleyball team fell in three sets to No. 3 Hawai'i at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu on Friday night. Set scores were 25-19, 25-11 and 25-13. The `Dogs fall to 12-12 overall and 5-7 in Western Athletic Conference play and are still tied for fourth in the WAC standings.
After Hawai'i took the first point in the match, the Bulldogs took an early 4-2 lead. Hawai'i re-took the lead at 11-7 but a service ace by junior Bulldog libero Kelly Mason (Temecula, Calif.) tied the set at 11. The Rainbow Wahine went up 19-15 and forced the second Bulldog timeout of the set. The `Dogs got within two at 20-18 but Hawai'i went on a 5-0 run to take set one.
Fresno State took another early lead in set two at 4-2 with a kill by sophomore Brianna Clarke (Fresno, Calif.). Hawai'i took the lead at 5-6 and never surrendered the lead as they took a 2-0 lead in the match.
Hawai'i took control of set three and never trailed as they went up by as many as 12 to take the set and sweep the match.
Sophomore Kelli Parker (Lemoore, Calif.) led the `Dogs with seven kills and Mason had 10 digs. Senior Kelly Leonardo (Merced, Calif.) added three blocks. Senior's Lisa Gera (San Jose, Calif.) and Allanah Munson (Medford, Ore.) had nine assists each.

Tonight's `Fighting Spirit' went to Kelly Mason, Kelly Leonardo and Kelli Parker.
"We Are Your Team" - On Monday, November 9, the Nevada Wolf Pack will be at the Save Mart Center to face your Fresno State Volleyball team. Match time has been set for 6 p.m. and High School Volleyball teams are encouraged to attend! On Thursday, November 12, the Lady Techsters will be in town for "Take a Kid to the Game" Night. All kids (eighth grade and below) will receive free admission when accompanying a paid adult.
