FRESNO, Calif. - In honor of the Holiday season Fresno State Athletics is counting down the days with the 12 Days of Christmas. On the first day of Christmas Timeout brought to the Red Wave the No. 1 doubles team in the nation.
Entering their final year together at Fresno State, Anastasia Petukhova and Renata Kucerkova have accomplished a lot in the last three years. The pair begins their senior season ranked No. 1 in the nation.
Petukhova and Kucerkova are two-time NCAA All-Americans and three-time All-WAC honorees. They have won WAC championships each year as Bulldogs and their overall career record is 104-18.
During their junior seasons, the Bulldog duo won the ITA Northwest Regional Doubles Championship. They were named the 2009 ITA National Doubles Team of the Year and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Tournament. Kucerkhova and Petukhova were ranked No. 1 in the final poll and earned 12 wins over Top 25 doubles teams. Petukhova and Kucerkhova finished the season 44-5.
In their second year as Bulldogs the pair made it to the semifinals of the NCAA Doubles Tournament and the ITA Northwest Regional Tournament. Petukhova and Kucerkhova went 43-9 as sophomores.
In 2006-07, Kucerkhova and Petukhova went 17-4 in their first year as teammates and Bulldogs.
