Women's Hoops Hosts No. 2 Stanford

FRESNO, Calif.- The Fresno State women's basketball team hosts No. 2 Stanford on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Save Mart Center. It is Pack the House Night and all adult tickets can be purchased for as low as $5 and high school students can get into the game for $2 with high school ID card. The game can be heard live on 790 ESPN Radio.
Fresno State vs. Stanford
Stanford leads the overall series 17-6. The last time Fresno State defeated Stanford was Dec. 20, 1986 when they defeated the Cardinal 81-64 at Stanford. Last year the Bulldogs lost 100-62 at Stanford.
Scouting Stanford
Stanford is 9-1 and ranked No. 2 in the country in the AP and ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. The Cardinal is led by Nnemkadi Ogwumike's 19.3 points and 8.6 rebounds a game. Kayla Pedersen is scoring 18.6 points and grabbing 8.2 rebounds and Jayne Appel is scoring 13 points and gets a team-best 9.2 rebounds a game. The Cardinal averages 81.2 points a game and shoots 47.6 percent from the field.

Jaleesa Ross has scored 1,085 points in her career at Fresno State. She needs 102 points to pass Careana Clay (1981-84) and move into 10th place on the Bulldog career scoring list for most points. Chantella Perera is in ninth place with 1,234 points. Ross is one of only 16 Bulldogs who have surpassed 1,000 points.

Jaleesa Ross has hit 225 3-pointers in her two plus seasons as a Bulldog and she is currently in second place on the schools career list for 3-pointers made. She needs 48 3-pointers to pass Lindsay Logan and move into first place. Her 95 3-pointers made last season is a new Fresno State single season record, breaking the previous mark of 89, set by Ross last year and Lindsay Logan in 2000-01. The 95 3-pointers ranks Ross is fifth on the single season Top 10 list in the WAC for most 3-pointers made in a year.
Highest Ranked Teams to Play the Dogs in Fresno
Wednesday's game is only the second time in school history a No. 2 ranked team in the country has come to Fresno to play the Bulldogs. No number one team has played the Bulldogs in Fresno. The other No. 2 team to visit Fresno came in the 1990 when the Bulldogs defeated No. 2 UNLV 73-65. Fresno State has only played the top team in the country once and that was in the 1995-96 season when the Dogs lost to No. 1 Louisiana Tech by 18 points in Boulder, Colorado. The next highest ranked team to visit Fresno was in the 1988-89 season when No. 6 Stanford came to Fresno and beat the Bulldogs 62-58.
