FRESNO, Calif. - Men's Golf is in 13th place at the Hilo-Hawai'i Invitational, hosted on the Mauna Lani Resort North Course, after compiling a team score of 308.
Junior Grant Doverspike is tied for fifth and leads the team after carding a first round score of 2-under par 70. Nine players are tied for fifth place at 2-under par 70. Doverspike is joined by sophomore Bryan Hogan (T57, 77), freshman Bhavik Patel (T76, 80), junior Todd Angel (T83, 81) and freshman Brian Sunker (100, 89). Senior Matt Ryan is playing as an unattached individual. He shot par 72 and is tied for 17th.
University of Hawaii at Hilo junior Rodolfo Estrada has the lead after the first round. Estrada's 6-under-par 66 (31-35) is two strokes better than Washington's Richard Lee (34-34). Tied for third place are Washington's Nick Taylor (35-34) and USC's Jamie Lovermark (33-36).
Washington leads the team competition with a 281. They are followed by USC (285), Oregon (287), Texas Tech and TCU (291), Stanford and Oklahoma (294), Colorado (295), Arizona State (296), UC Davis (299), Hawaii Hilo (300), Georgia Tech (301), Fresno State (308), Kansas (309), Florida State (311), San Francisco (312) and Hawaii Manoa (314).
"Join the State - Fresno State!" - The Fresno State women's golf team opens the 2008 spring season at home as they host the Fresno State Invitational at Copper River Country Club February 23 and 24. Admission is free to the public to watch.
