FRESNO, Calif. - After helping lead the Fresno State women's basketball team to its second straight WAC championship, Jaleesa Ross and Hayley Munro were recognized by the WAC coaches as Ross was named First-Team All-WAC and Munro earned Second-Team All-WAC honors. Last year Ross earned Second-Team All-WAC honors while Munro garnered All-Freshmen Team honors.
"They have worked hard to help build this basketball program and they are deserving of the honors they are getting," Fresno State coach Adrian Wiggins said. "They have helped improve each player on our team and they are a big reason why we have won back-to-back WAC championships."
Ross led the Bulldogs in scoring by averaging 13.3 points as game. She shot 44 percent from the field for the season and 41 percent from the 3-point line. In conference games the Bulldog sophomore averaged 13.4 points and shot 46 percent from the field. Ross was named WAC Player of the Week on Dec. 22 when she averaged 19.5 points on 48 percent shooting from the field. Ross tied her career-high of 24 points in a road win at Boise State.
Munro averaged 10.8 points and grabbed a team-best 6.6 rebounds on the season. In WAC games Munro averaged 11.2 points and 6.6 rebounds. The Bulldog sophomore scored a career-high 28 points on Feb. 1 in a win over Utah State. Munro earned WAC Player of the Week honors on Feb. 2 by averaging 25 points a game in wins of Utah State and San Jose State. In a win at Hawai'i she nearly had a triple-double as she finished with 14 points, nine assists and eight rebounds.
