'Dogs Finish in Second at Cowgirl Classic

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's golf team gets their best finish of the season placing second at the 2009 Wyoming Cowgirl Classic. The Bulldogs went into the third round with a second place standing only to shoot a tournament low of 300 and still sit at second to finish the day. Every Bulldog individual finished in the Top 20 of the field and had their best performances of this season.
The `Dogs finished one stroke behind the tournament winners, Northern Arizona (309-296-303--908/+44). Northern Arizona has won two of three Cowgirl Classics. Finishing in third was Sacramento State with a +66-over par 930 total. A total of 22 strokes separated second and third place.
Senior Taylor Siebert received her best finish of the year, placing fourth, after shooting a 2-under par 70 in the final round. Siebert completed the tournament at 9-over par 225 to lead the team.
Hali Coppin finished in the Top 10 of the field by placing seventh. Coppin carded an 11-over par 228 to finish three strokes behind Siebert and also gained her best finish of the year.
Tying for ninth was junior Lindi Covarrubias. Covarrubias fired a 74 in the final round to end the day at 14-over par 230. Both Chelsea Czinski and Louisa Lies tied for 19th. Czinski posted rounds of 74, 81 and 79 to complete the event. Lies tied her lowest finish of the year with the 19th place earning. She shot 18-over 234.
Next stop for the `Dogs will be the WAC Championships Hosted by the University of Nevada-Reno. The tournament takes places on April 20-22 at the Wolf Run Golf Course in Reno, Nev.
