Gloria and Petukhova Academic All-District Honorees

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State senior Melanie Gloria and junior Anastasia Petukhova earned ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District honors for their scholastic and athletic accomplishments in 2008-09. Gloria was also an ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American.
Gloria, an international business major from Montreal, Quebec, has a 3.85 cumulative GPA and was named to the Academic All-District VII First Team and the Academic All-America Third Team.
Petukhova is an entrepreneurship major with a 3.87 GPA who plans on owning her own business after graduation, and was named to the Academic All-District VII Second Team.
The pair was also successful on the court.
Gloria is a four-time WAC Player of the Year and two-time All-American. Along with partner Tinesta Rowe, she advanced to the 2008 NCAA Doubles Championship match. She leaves Fresno State as No. 2 on the school's career wins list with 123 victories.
Petukhova is a two-time All-American doubles player and a one-time All-American singles player. Along with partner Renata Kucerkova, she held the No. 1 doubles ranking for the majority of the spring season. The pair advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2009 NCAA Doubles Tournament and was named the 2009 ITA Doubles Team of the Year.
Other WAC players named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District teams were Nevada's Margaret Doolittle, Katie Lyons and Caroline Bailly.
