PRIMM, Nev. - The Fresno State women's golf team continued to fight dry, windy conditions to remain in 17th place thru 36-holes on Monday at Golfweek's Conference Challenge, which is being played at the par-72, 6,108-yard, Primm Valley Golf Club in Primm, Nev.
Lindi Covarrubias (79-81) and Louisa Lies (82-78) lead the `Dogs after shooting a 36-hole total of 160 to share 63rd place.Hali Coppin (83-78--161) and Chelsea Czinski (80-81--161) are tied for 68th. Shaylee Yano (83-81--164) is still tied for 79th.
"Our ball striking has been good this week," said head coach Angie Cates-Moore. "Tomorrow I am confident that our short game will be better. We will shot the lower numbers I know this team can shoot."
Caroline Hedwall of Oklahoma State holds on to the individual lead with a 4-under 140. Chattanooga has the team lead with a 14-over 590, good for a two-stroke lead over Cal.
The 18-team field includes four teams that appeared in Golfweek's preseason poll, No. 12 Pepperdine, No. 16 Ohio State, No. 18 UNLV and No. 28 Cal.
The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday with teams teeing off at 8:00 a.m. (PT) off of holes one and 10.
