Swim Concludes First Meet of Season

FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldogs swim team finished in fourth place at their opening meet of the 2010-11 season at the University of Pacific Invitational.

The `Dogs had an outstanding performance by freshman Michelle Dockendorf. Dockendorf was the individual winner in the 200 Breast and swam a 2:21.79 scoring major points for the Bulldog swim team.
Sophomore Rayanne Nguyen earned points for the `Dogs in the 100 Fly finishing in the top 10 as well as producing in the 200 Fly, placing in the top 15. Stephanie Hatayama also had a top 15 finish in the 100 Free.
Another returner, Dede Torres swam a lifetime best in the 200 Back, showing signs of improvement to start off her junior season.
Brittany Buna had a strong swim for the `Dogs in the 500 Free, placing in the top 10 at ninth. The freshman clocked a time of 5:14.75, leading the Bulldogs and finishing a head of competitors from Pacific, Washington State and BYU.
"We had some solid swims today," said head coach Jeanne Fleck. "We are showing signs of improvement even when facing a lot of events. All-in-all we were a lot faster and overall we are a better team."
"We Are Your Team!" - The `Dogs return home Oct. 23 as they take home cross-town rival Fresno Pacific. Events will begin at noon and the `Dogs will be competing at Clovis North High School swim complex.
