Bulldog Classic Concludes with Wins

FRESNO, Calif. - After three days of competition the Bulldogs ended their tournament with a 26-5 record and each Bulldog earning wins in singles and doubles.
In doubles, Melissa McQueen and Olga Kirpicheva teamed up to take on Pacific's duo, Christina Goehl and Olga Gumenyuk. The sophomore Bulldogs defeated the Tigers, 8-5.
Adding another Fresno State victory in doubles, Modoc and Hayley battled against Pacific's Susan Te and fellow teammate Anna Mikhaylova, 8-1.
In singles the Bulldogs battled the Nevada Wolf Pack and Portland State Vikings. Kirpicheva, McQueen and Hayley dropped their matches to the Wolf Pack and Hayley and McQueen earned victories against the Vikings.
After competing in three matches, Modoc defeated Saint Mary's lone competitor, Laurie Gringas, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
"The Bulldog Classic was a successful event, everyone was able to compete in a ton of matches and earn wins," said head coach Simon Thibodeau. "We want to make it bigger next year and I was proud to see Bianca Modoc and Abby Hayley have great composure in all their matches, despite the fatigue and injuries."
Fresno State is finished with their fall season and will pick up competition at the end of January.
