FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldogs women's golf team finished the 2010 Anteater Invitational with another strong round, a score of 302 to match their first round score. All five players shot lower than 80 in the round, led by Hali Coppin's 71 and Maria Pia Escandon with a 73, one of her best rounds of the season.
The Dogs finished in seventh place, three shots out of sixth place and eight strokes better than Oregon and Hawaii.
Coppin tied for 14th place with a scorecard that included four birdies. Sophomore Louisa Lies (72-81-79--232) tied for 24th place. Chelsea Czinski (79-82-79--240) and Shaylee Yano (77-84-79--240) tied for 50th place with Escandon (77-91-73--241) one stroke behind.
"We played pretty well the last round but the second round just killed us," head coach Angie Cates-Moore. "Right now our focus is on the WAC championships. We know we have to win the WAC to get into postseason but we've been there before. We will focus in on that goal."
"We are Your Team!" The Bulldogs play in the 2010 Western Athletic Conference Championships in Mesa, Arizona April 19-21.
