FRESNO, Calif. - After two weeks of voting the fans have spoken! The 2000-2009 Men's and Women's Golf Players of the Decade results are in!
A total of 88 fans logged on to www.gobulldogs.com and voted for their men's and women's golfer of the decade.

Nick Watney swung with the Bulldogs from 1999-2002. Not only was Watney arguably the best golfer at Fresno State in his time but also one of the best in the country. He was a three-time All-American, Three-Time First-Team All-WAC and Player of the Year, the 2003 Fresno State and WAC Male Athlete of the Year, a two-time Golf World National Player of the Week and the 2000 WAC Freshman of the Year. Watney was the sixth golfer in NCAA Division I history to post a sub-70 season-stroke average with a 69.93 in 2002-03. That mark is also the fifth-lowest in a season. He placed sixth at the 2002 NCAA Championships and earned Jack Nicklaus Award consideration in 2003 and was a Ben Hogan Award Top 11 Finalist in 2003. Watney was the Southwestern Men's Amateur Champion in 2002 and 2003 and the Southwest Region Player of the Year 2002. He was a Palmer Cup Team member in 2002 and received a No. 1 District 7 ranking in 2001. In his four years as a Bulldog, he was the No. 1 golfer nine times by Golf State & GolfWeek/Saragin Polls and led the nation in Par 5 scoring, Total Shot Game, tournament wins, stroke average and was ranked second in the nation in Par 4 scoring, Subpar Strokes Per Round and putts on green in regulation. He is currently on the PGA Tour and a tour event winner.
Laura Luethke played with the Bulldogs from 2004-2007. She is the only Bulldog golfer to win the individual WAC Championship after guiding to the `Dogs to their first WAC team championship in 2008. She placed 44th at the NCAA Championships her senior year. She was a four-time First-Team All-WAC selection and named the team's MVP for four-straight seasons. Leuthke also finished second at the WAC Championships her junior season. Her freshman year, she was named the WAC Freshman of the Year and an Honorable Mention All-American by the National Golf Coaches Association. Also in her freshman campaign she participated in the Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship and helped Team USA to its 10th straight win.
The All-Decade results for men's and women's tennis will be announced Wednesday, April 14, for men's and women's track and field and cross country on Thursday, April 15 and for equestrian on Friday, April 16.
"We are Your Team" - The Bulldog men's golf team plays the final round of 42nd Annual U.S Intercollegiate at Stanford Tuesday.
