Ely Named to WAC All-Decade Team

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State's Melvin Ely, the all-time Bulldog men's basketball leading scorer with 1,951 career points and top shot blocker with 362 career blocks from 1998-2002, was named to Western Athletic Conference's All-Decade Men's Basketball Team. More than 1,000 fans participated and voted on players that had been on at least two all-WAC teams between 2000 and 2010.
Ely, a four-year Bulldog center, from Harvey, Ill., was a two-time WAC Player of the Year and was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers 12th overall in the first round of the 2002 NBA Draft, the highest pick of any former Fresno State student-athlete.
Nevada's Nick Fazekas was the leading vote getter with 60 percent of the votes. Joining Fazekas on the team are Ely, Louisiana Tech's Paul Millsap, Nevada's Luke Babbitt and Utah State's Jaycee Carroll.
