`Dogs Head to No. 25 New Mexico State

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State baseball team heads south to face New Mexico State in a four-game Western Athletic Conference series. The Bulldogs trail the Aggies, who are in first place, by four games in the league standings.
About the Aggies
New Mexico State is currently first in the WAC standings with a 13-2-1 conference record and 35-12-1 overall. Leo Aguirre is hitting .419 with 16 doubles, 11 home runs and 52 RBIs. Dan Reid has the most starts for the Aggies (11) with a 6.07 ERA and 41 strikeouts.
Red Hot on the Road
The Bulldogs are red hot on the road and have accumulated a record of 11-6 while away from Pete Beiden Field. Nevada had lost only two games at home before the Bulldogs came to Reno, Nev. Fresno State won two of four games at Peccole Park. The `Dogs won three of four games at Les Murakami Stadium in Honolulu, which is one of the hardest places to play in the WAC.
Ribera Leads the Nation
Jordan Ribera leads the team, conference and nation in home runs with 22. He is ahead of Jacob Tanis from Mercer University by three home runs. As of May 4, the first baseman also leads the nation in home runs per game with .47 a game. Ribera is ninth in the nation in total bases with 140 so far this season.
`Dogs versus Ranked Opponents
No. 25 New Mexico State is the Bulldogs fifth ranked opponent in 2010. Earlier this season, the `Dogs played the following ranked team; No. 15 Oregon, No. 22 San Diego, No. 18 Cal and No. 10 Cal State Fullerton. Fresno State shutout Cal State Fullerton 5-0 at the San Diego Tournament.
