`Dogs Host Long Beach State, Head to Miner Classic

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's soccer team welcome Long Beach State to Bulldog Stadium tonight for the first home game of the season. The match kicks off at 7 p.m. and admission is free for everyone.
The Bulldogs are 0-1 after a road game against Pepperdine last week. Fresno State heads to the lone star state later this week for two matches at the Miner Classic hosted by UTEP. The `Dogs play UTEP on Aug. 27 and Texas State on Aug. 29.
Fresno State vs. Long Beach State
The Bulldogs and 49ers meet for the sixth time in history. The teams met last year and Long Beach State won 1-0. The 49ers lead the series 4-1.
About the 49ers
Long Beach State opened the 2010 season with 2-0 loss to #14 BYU. Karina Camacho led the team with three shots and goalkeeper Emily Kingsborough had six saves.
Fresno State vs. UTEP
The `Dogs and Miners play for the first time since 2007 and will be the 10th meeting in school history. The Bulldogs won the last meeting 3-2. The overall series is tied 3-3-3.
About the Miners
UTEP earned a 1-0 win over Northern Arizona in the first game of the season. Brittany Kindzierski scored the lone goal for the Miners. Chandra Morden recorded seven saves in her first shutout of 2010.
Fresno State vs. Texas State
This weekend marks the first meeting between the Bulldogs and Bobcats.
About the Bobcats
Texas State was shutout 2-0 by Texas Tech in the 2010 opener. Emma Staley recorded four of the Bobcats 11 shots. Goalkeeper Lauren Frazier had nine saves.
Weekend Wrap Up
The `Dogs opened the 2010 season on the road against Pepperdine. Fresno State lost the match 2-0. Kaitlyn Revel recorded six saves. The Bulldogs fired off six shots against the Waves.
Revel Saves The Day
Preseason All-WAC goalkeeper Kaitlyn Revel recorded six saves in the 2010 opener. The senior has 273 career saves and is second in Fresno State History. She needs 133 more saves to break the career save record set by Jennifer Johnstone. Last season, Revel broke the all-time shutout record after her 24th career shutout versus Idaho.
"We Are Your Team"-- The Bulldogs host the 49ers of Long Beach State on Monday, Aug. 23 in the 2010 home opener. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. in Bulldog Stadium. A lucky student who attends the home opener will go home with a $200 gift certificate to the Kennel Bookstore.
