Bulldogs Finish Up In Colorado

FRESNO, Calif. - After a great two days of golf competition in Colorado, the Fresno State Bulldogs ended the tournament in ninth place with a score of 292-303-294--889/+6. The Bulldogs beat all of the WAC schools who competed in this tournament and are very pleased with the start of their 2010-11 season.

"This was a great start to our season," said head coach Angie Cates-Moore. "The ladies stayed tough and finished this tournament strong."
The Bulldogs opened the tournament with their lowest low round ever with a score of 292. The final Bulldog scores for the third round were: Louisa Lies (72=215), Shaylee Yano (72=221), Hillary Billingsley (76=227), Chelsea Czinski (74=227), Krysta Clark (81=234).
Junior Louisa Lies finished up the tournament tied for eighth place with Rebecca Hellbom from New Mexico, Brianna Espinoza from Colorado State, and Daniela Holmqvist from Cal. Lies is off to a great start in her third season with the `Dogs and hit 11 birdies during the two day tournament.
"Louisa's confidence has really improved over the last few years," Cates-More said. "She knows she can compete with the best."
Sophomore Shaylee Yano ended the opening tournament with her best college finish of her career. She is tied for 26th place and hit eight birdies during the Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic.
"We played really well this week," said Cates-Moore. "I think we are going to surprise a lot of teams this year with our play."
The ladies will head back to California this evening to gear up for their next tournament in Oregon on Sept. 27.
"The team is working really hard this season," said Cates-Moore. "We have a lot of great chemistry this year."
