Dogs Completed Rain Soaked Tournament

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's golf team (323-330--653, +85) finished the Peg Barnard Invitational at Stanford Golf Course in tenth place Sunday. The remainder of the suspended first round was completed in the morning before the final round began on the 6,148-yard, par-71 course.
Senior Chelsea Czinski (78-76--154) claimed the Bulldogs' top spot by finishing in 27th place with a 12-over. Her 5-over final round, the lowest round out of the Dogs, included a birdie on the eighth hole.
Sophomore Shaylee Yano (77-84--161) carded a 19-over while freshman Alison Timlin (85-84--169), playing in her first tournament, recorded a 27-over. Freshmen Hillary Billingsley (89-86--175) and Taylor Wilkinson (83-93--176) rounded off the rest of the Bulldogs who competed on the team. Sophomore Krysta Clark (80-85--165) participated as an individual and finished at 23-over.
No. 9 Cal (292-287--579) cruised to the team title by shooting a 3-over in the final round and ending at 11-over. No. 27 Stanford (304-293--597, +29) took the second spot which ended their streak of victories at their home tournament at three. No. 25 UC Davis (307-292--599), No. 21 Colorado (303-299--602) and No. 28 Washington (31-295--610) rounded out the top five.
Emily Childs (73-67--140) of Cal claimed the individual title with a 2-under 140. Her 4-under 67 final round was filled with five birdies and only one bogey and helped propel her into the top spot. Daniela Holmqvist (69-74--143, +1) of Cal placed second while Anya Alvarez (78-67--145, +3) of Washington took third.
Fresno State women's golf returns to action Feb. 28 - March 1 when the Bulldogs compete at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invite in San Jose.
