McQueen Earns Solo Point for Bulldogs

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's tennis team drops its first road match to Texas A&M, 6-1 at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
A&M took an early lead sweeping the Bulldogs in doubles and earning the point.
On court No. 1 the Aggies Janelle Cuthbertson and Christi Liles took an early lead against the Bulldogs Marianne Jodoin and Laura Pola. The Fresno State duo battled back and got within a game at 4-3 and 6-5 but was unable to take the lead. A&M won the final two games to win the match and clinch the point.
On court No. 2, Melissa McQueen and Bianca Modoc competed against the No. 61st ranked doubles team, Nazari Urbina and Morgan Frank. The Bulldogs started strong pulling ahead 6-4 but the Aggies rallied to tie the score at 7-7, forcing a tiebreaker. The Aggies fought off match point at 7-6 and went on to win the next two points to win the match.
The Bulldogs victory came on court No. 4 where McQueen defeated Christi Potgieter, 10-5, in the super tiebreaker. McQueen won the opening set, 7-5, but Potgieter rallied back and won the second set, 6-3 forcing a tiebreaker.
Texas A&M earned victories on courts 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6.
Fresno State continues their travels as they take on Baylor in Waco, Texas on Feb. 26 at noon and SMU in Dallas, Texas on Feb. 27 at noon.
