FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 60 Fresno State women's tennis team drops their final match of the day to No. 42 UNLV resulting in 4-3 lost on Friday at the Wathen Tennis Center.
Swinging away to victory on courts one and three Fresno State earns the doubles point.
Bianca Modoc and Marianne Jodoin advance their doubles record together to 2-1 after defeating the Rebels' Nives Pavlovic and Aleksandra Josifoska, 8-6. Abby Hayley and Laura Pola continue to be undefeated this season, 3-0 earning the victory against UNLV, 8-1.
In between the doubles and singles matches TimeOut and Fresno State cheer made an appearance to support and pump up the crowd.
Competing on court one, Marianne Jodoin played against No. 68 nationally ranked player Lucia Batta. Taking the first set to her advantage, 6-1 Jodoin kept her eyes on the win. Being swept in the second set Jodoin rallied back and defeated Batta earning the Bulldogs their third point for the day.
The second point came from Laura Pola who battled Aleksandra Josifoska on court two. Finishing third in the day, Pola took a lead in both sets and kept the advantage to on her side and defeated Josoifoka, 6-4, 6-4.
The clincher of the afternoon came from Bianca Modoc and Jana Albers on court five. The Bulldogs earned the first set, 7-5 and the Rebels earned the second set, 6-4. Unfortunately Modoc couldn't hold onto the last match and Albers picked up the final set, 6-3.
"We are getting better and that's the most important aspect," said head coach Simon Tibodeau. "We played close to a tough UNLV team who's top 40 and it came to the very last set."
Fresno State is back at home Sunday against the Florida International Panthers.
