POSTGAME NOTES
Junior guard Garrett Johnson scored a career-high 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field and logged a career-high 35 minutes in his 71st game as a Bulldog.
Senior point guard Steven Shepp dished out a career-best 11 assists and eight points with a block and a steal in his 71st game as a Bulldog.
Sophomore guard Kevin Olekaibe netted 15 points, which was his 13th double-digit scoring night of the season and third straight. He scored a team-best 11 first half points, which was the 16th time this season that he has scored 10 or more points in a half and the sixth time that he reached the double-digit mark in the first half.
Redshirt sophomore Jerry Brown tallied 10 points and swiped a season-best four steals.
In total, four Bulldogs recorded career-highs in minutes played (Olekaibe - 44, Brown - 41, Shepp - 40 and G. Johnson - 35).
This was Fresno State's first overtime game since last season when the Bulldogs defeated New Mexico State 88-83 at the Save Mart Center on Feb. 3, 2011.
This was Fresno State's first overtime loss in nearly three years when the Bulldogs fell to New Mexico State 79-71 on the road at the Pan American Center on Feb. 14, 2009.
As a team, Fresno State outrebounded Hawai'i 21-12 on the offensive glass, but allowed the Rainbow Warriors to pull down a 34-13 edge on the defensive boards.
As a team, Fresno State tied a season-high with 11 3-pointers. The Bulldogs also hit 11 from beyond the 3-point arc against Manhattan back in NIT Season Tip Off play.
Fresno State picked up 11 steals and forced 20 Hawai'i turnovers.
Fresno State made 78 field goal attempts in 45 minutes of game action, but converted just 27 field goals for a 34.6 percent clip from the floor. Hawai'i hit 27-of-52 shots for a 51.9 mark from the floor.
Fresno State is now 7-2 against Hawai'i in games played at the Save Mart Center.
Fresno State is now 2-11 when trailing with five minutes to play this season.
Fresno State is now 0-3 in WAC play for the first time since starting the 2008-09 conference slate with a 0-4 record, which marks the only other time this decade that the Bulldogs opened WAC action by losing its first three conference games.
