Fresno State Head Coach Rodney Terry
On the Bulldogs' hot start to the game and bouncing back...
"We got off to a really good shooting night to start the ball game. We put a lot of extra work in shooting. Our guys are confident. We had a little drought in there toward the end of the first half. We let our offense affect our defense. I feel real good about our team's effort on such a quick turnaround."
On getting the first conference win of the year...
I was happy for our guys. Our coaches and guys have done a great job in terms of preparation. Our effort has been there. We have had opportunities. We won this game with what we did yesterday in terms of preparation. We came in and bounced back like men. You have a win or loss for one night. You have to be ready for your next challenge.
On San Jose State's effort and performance...
"They came in and shot the ball extremely well. George had his guys ready to play and we knew they would be ready to go when they came in here. Give them credit. They made shots as well."
Fresno State sophomore guard Kevin Olekaibe
On breaking out for a career-best 32 points and bouncing back as a team...
"I had a great game, but the credit goes to Steven (Shepp) and TJ (Tyler Johnson). They both had seven assists and they were finding everyone on the floor. Everything was in the flow of the offense. I didn't rush any shots, and the shots I took where ones I know I can make. Coach Terry also tells me it is mental and to fight back. Fighters fight back and nothing dictates their game of play. I just fought back and played hard for my teammates."
San Jose State Head Coach George Nessman
On Fresno State's strong start...
"They really knocked down shots coming out of the locker room. They had been struggling like we have. I think Fresno (State) came out really inspired and played really well. I think we could have weathered that, and I think we played better for the while, but they just held us off. Give them a lot of credit. Both teams fought really hard. It was a really emotional game. They really held us off."
On the free throw factor...
"I thought one of the biggest differences was the free throw line. We just didn't convert in the second half. We were 11-for-22 in the second half from the free throw line and that's uncharacteristic. We're leading the conference in free throw shooting. And Fresno (State) did convert from the free throw line and I thought that was a big influence on the outcome of the game. And then Olekeibe had a great game for them and certainly that was a factor too.
On Olekaibe's impact
"He's really good at moving off the ball and moving his feet and they run a lot of action for him. He's a good player. We knew that. We're not surprised that he scored 32. We're disappointed but we're not surprised."
