Rodney Terry, Fresno State head coach
(On defensive intensity)
Was really a long game, said that before the lights went out. We came out with the kind of intensity we want from the defensive standpoint. When we have the second line guys come in off the bench they have to bring that same intensity. I felt like there was a little drop off there and that let them back in the game.
(On strong shooting performance)
Our guys are spending more time getting shots up in the gym. This time of year, once you get past finals, guys have more time to get in the gym. We've had time the last 3 days to get shooting workouts in, where we can just focus on shooting. Anytime you are able to groove your shot and get repetitions, over and over doing it we've had pretty good results with it.
(On Aaron Anderson injury)
I think he is going to be fine. This day and time anytime you have blow to the head and have some blurriness you're going to be very over cautious. He'll be fine and he is a tough kid. All indications right now are that he is fine, we just took extra precaution.
(On San Diego State game and Mountain West)
There a team that is picked to win our league, a team that Coach Fisher has done a great job of building that program. There a program, you always look across the country, that you wanna model yourselves after, how did they get that done how did they build their program. There one of those programs. You know we wanna be exactly like those guys, if we can build it and have that magic formula the way those guys have it we want to have it likewise. To have the opportunity to have them as the first one out obviously a tough challenge for us, our whole league is going to be a challenge. But we welcome that, we played a very difficult non-conference schedule. One that I think has prepared us for our conference slate. I think our guys will be excited about it, it's a new season for us. January is a grind month. You gotta get in and really want it and you gotta execute. This time of year we know exactly how we wanna play and what we wanna do.
(On being ready for MW play)
Since we've gotten back our whole priority and our big picture has been getting ready for conference play. We never slight any opponent that we have. We respect every opponent. But, this game and the last couple of games in our non conference have been about getting us better for conference play. You play conference play for post season play. You welcome the challenge, you know there aren't any nights off. Its gonna make us better and were excited about it.
Tyler Johnson, Fresno State junior guard
(On career-high scoring) Didn't really feel like a career high because it was a really long game and with the delay, just a really weird game. I'm glad my teammates put me in the opportunity to do that and like coach said were getting more shots up because school is over. It's a good feeling.
(On confidence gained from UCLA game)
I was able to make shots down there late in the game. I am getting a lot of shots up, up to 300 shots a day. Rest of my teammates are knocking down shots too. Marvelle making his shots and KO seems to be getting into his groove again.
(On what to work on before San Diego State game)
I'll probably work on my leadership skills. You see I had to go in there and play the point when Aaron got hurt. Gotta get us in our stuff and then keep being the leader off the floor to make sure were all doing what we need to do.
