Jerry Brown III Named Sysco Student-Athlete of the Week

Redshirt sophomore forward Jerry Brown III fueled Fresno State's sweep of defending WAC champion Utah State (60-54) and Idaho (65-55) with an average of 14.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Brown recorded his first career double-double (14 points/10 rebounds) in the Bulldogs' wire-to-wire win versus Idaho, which marked Fresno State's first victory over the Vandals in nine tries, and followed up with 14 points and eight boards to lead the 'Dogs past USU for the first time since 2007 and snapped a 10-game losing skid to the Aggies. In beating Utah State, the 6-7 forward helped Fresno State tie a 28-year-old school record by committing just three turnovers, which equaled the three in a game with Long Beach State back in 1984. He also drained his first career 3-pointer on his first ever attempt when the Bulldogs led the Aggies by one with 3:47 to play and USU never closed to within closer than two the rest of the way. In the win over Idaho, Brown also hit a key jumper with four minutes remaining after the Vandals had pulled to within five. For the week, he shot 76.9 percent (10-for-13) from the field, added four steals and three blocks and the Bulldogs never trailed in both of their contests. Other Nominees: "We Are Your Team!"
