Rain Drops Bulldogs During Second Round

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's golf team is in 13th place out of 17 teams after the second round of the U.S. Intercollegiate held at Stanford Golf Course.
The Bulldogs (285-308--593, +33) played their first 10 holes in rainy conditions until play was suspended due to the inclement weather. Play resumed at 1:00 p.m. and their scores improved once the conditions cleared.Leading the way for the 'Dogs during the second round was senior Brian Sunker with a 5-over, 75 to move into a tie for 59th. Sunker recorded birdies on the par-4 5th and 15th holes.
Rufie Fessler continues to be in the top position for the Bulldogs at 14th after shooting a 7-over, 77. Fessler was 6-over par through his first nine holes, but once the weather improved, he finished the front-nine at 1-over, 36.
Nate Jessup, Jack Mulroy and Keenan Nelson are all tied for 63rd at 12-over. Mulroy recorded a 7-over, 77 while Jessup and Nelson shot a 9-over, 79 and 10-over, 80, respectively.
No. 12 Oregon remains in the lead at 4-under while No. 8 Southern California (+4) jumped No. 6 UCLA (+8) for second place. No. 7 Patrick Rodgers of Stanford moved into the individual lead after firing a 3-under, 67 to sit at 5-under over the first two rounds.
The 'Dogs return to action Sunday to compete in the final round of the U.S. Intercollegiate with tee times scheduled to start at 8 a.m. PST.
