FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's golf team wrapped up their 2011-12 regular season with a 13th place finish at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate in Half Moon Bay, Calif. The tournament, co-hosted by UC Davis and Oregon, was held at the 6,028-yard, par-72 Half Moon Bay Golf Links.
The Bulldogs shot a season-low 294 during the final round to replace their previous mark of 295 which was set in the fall at the Cowgirl Desert Invite. The 'Dogs set another season-best by finishing 33-over par.
It was the most competitive field Fresno State faced all year with nine teams ranked in the top 50 and none ranked lower than 79th. Even though No. 3 USC fired a tournament-best 10-under, 278, No. 1 UCLA was able to hold onto the lead and claim the team championship at 15-under.
Both Christine Uhalde and Madchen Ly recorded even-par, 72 for their second par or better performance of the season. Ly finished tied for 32nd at 5-over while Uhalde was one stroke behind at 6-over and in a tie for 36th.
Louisa Lies and Shaylee Yano both carded a final round 3-over, 75 to conclude the tournament tied for 51st and 57th, respectively. Taylor Wilkinson remained in 75th place after shooting a final round 11-over.
No. 3 Erynne Lee of UCLA also held onto the top spot to win the individual title with a 9-under, 207 performance.
The Bulldogs return to action April 23-25 to compete in the WAC Championship held at Longbow Golf Course in Mesa, Ariz. The winner earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.
