FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State's Josh Harper and Chad Olsen both earned honorable mention Performer of the Week accolades from the College Football Performance Awards for their games against UNLV last week, the CFPA announced Monday.
Harper, a senior from Stockton, Calif. was named to the CFPA Wide Receiver Performer of the Week honorable mention list after catching 12 passes for 187 yards and one touchdown against the Rebels.
Olsen, a true freshman from Chico, Calif., earned a spot on the CFPA Tight End Performer of the Week honorable mention list following his two-touchdown outing against UNLV.
Olsen is one of just eight true freshmen, and the only tight end in the FBS, to have caught multiple TD passes in a game this season. He hauled in four passes for 55 yards in the contest, which are the most catches by any Bulldog tight end in five years. The first of his two touchdowns went for 29 yards in the first quarter and that is the longest TD reception by a Bulldog tight end since Bear Pascoe had a 75-yard touchdown catch against Hawai`i on Oct. 14, 2006.
For Harper, his big day adds on to his strong resume he has built in his career at Fresno State. His 187 receiving yards are the second-most in his career and the second-most by any Mountain West receiver this season. It was his seventh career 100-yard receiving game, which moved him into a tie for eighth place for the most 100-yard receiving games in school history.
His 12 catches gave him now four 10-plus reception games in his career, which are the third most of any player in school history. The 27-yard touchdown catch he had in the third quarter was the 25th TD of his career, moving him into a tie for second place for the most touchdown catches in a career by a Bulldog.
Harper this season is leading the Mountain West this season with 47 catches and is third in total receiving yardage at 637.
