Fresno State Athletics Posts Record Fall GPA

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State Athletics had a record-setting fall in the classroom, posting a 3.13 department GPA last semester that is the highest on record for a fall semester.
"The effort that our student-athletes put in to the classroom last semester was tremendous," said Steve Robertello, senior associate athletics director for intercollegiate services. "This was our highest fall GPA that we've ever had on record and it is reflective of not only our student-athletes commitment, but the great work that our academic services staff, coaches and University community do to help our student-athletes excel."
Fresno State had 283 student-athletes achieve a fall semester GPA of 3.0 or higher.
"I'm very impressed with the commitment to academics from the top down here at Fresno State," said Eric Coleman, director of student-athlete services. "Our student-athletes are dedicated to not only their sport, but excelling in the classroom as well and that showed with the outstanding fall we had."
A total of 43 student-athletes achieved perfect 4.0 GPAs in the fall and 154 or 36 percent of the student-athlete population was at 3.5 or higher.
The Bulldog men's and women's tennis programs had the top two team GPAs, with the women leading the charge at 3.66 followed closely by the men at 3.52. The football program had 47 student-athletes post GPAs of 3.0 or greater, women's track had 29, baseball had 28, equestrian had 23, lacrosse had 22, swimming and diving had 20 while the men's track and field and women's soccer program both had 19 above a 3.0.
The men's and women's golf programs, men's and women's tennis, baseball, lacrosse, volleyball and women's basketball programs had every team member post a GPA of 3.0 or higher this last fall.
