Junior Trevor Clayton claimed the 91st California State Fair Men's Amateur Championship over Labor Day Weekend, winning in a playoff by birding four-straight holes at Haggin Oaks MacKenzie golf course in Sacramento. The Clovis native won the title in comeback fashion, starting six strokes back from the lead after an opening round 1-over 73. Clayton settled in and fired a 6-under 66 on Sunday and capped Monday's round with a 5-under 67, that included an eagle on 18, that forced a playoff with a three round score of 10-under 216. In the playoff, his opponent matched each birdie through the first three holes, but fell short of Clayton's fourth consecutive birdie that would claim the championship.
