FRESNO, Calif. - Introduced by Fresno State Athletic Director, Jim Bartko, The Valley First Credit Union and Fresno State Athletics have teamed up for the Community Corner Ticket Program as an initiative to get community organizations and groups to Fresno State Athletic events.
Often faced with finding different ways organizations can help, Athletic Director Bartko's response was to get some of the people in the Fresno community who would not typically have the means to attend a game into the seats. Valley First Credit Union, a long-standing partner with Fresno State Athletics, answered the call and has solidified a three-year partnership as the title sponsor of the Community Corner Ticket Program.
Starting with last Friday's football game against UNLV, Valley First Credit Union will be sponsoring 50 tickets for every home football and men's basketball games for the next three athletic seasons.
The Ticket Program designates a "Community Corner" at Bulldog Stadium and The Save Mart Center where each group/organization will sit at for all sponsored games. Youth will be able to experience being part of the Red Wave at a Fresno State football or basketball home game and learn about the education they can receive at the same time.
"We are pleased to partner with Fresno State Athletics to provide these events for the community," said Hank Barrett, President and Chief Executive Officer of Valley First Credit Union. "Often times a youth's first college experience is at an athletic event on campus. Our hope is that these experiences encourage youth to explore opportunities at Fresno State."
For the Inaugural game last week, Valley First Credit Union teamed up with The California Endowment to host over 90 kids from The Central Valley, which included a pre-game tailgate party for the kids to enjoy food and beverages. Valley First Credit Union is a proud sponsor of Fresno State Athletics and is excited to give back to the community.
