Rodney Terry, Fresno State Head Coach
Opening statement...
"We're still working hard on our identity and what we want to stand for from a defensive standpoint. Our home crowd has been really good for us, they've been great. We've had great support over the last three games here. Our band and student section have been great, they've been giving our team a lift."
The bench when the starters got into foul trouble...
"We fought some adversity early on. We have a number of different guys play with two fouls and we had to play through that. Having depth on the bench and having guys that could come in and make some positive contributions off the bench really helped us tonight."
"That's what this team is about this year. We have ten guys over that we feel confident when they come in the game they're going to give us a positive contribution. Guys on the floor go as hard as they can go and then they pass that onto the next guy coming in."
On Cezar Guerrero's play...
"Early, I thought our guys did a great job attacking the way we've talked about attacking a defense. They want to create, not for themselves but for someone else. Marvelle did a great job of that early on. He has three or four assists and found Cezar a couple of times, just trusting his teammates. Again, this team has done that well at sharing the basketball."
"Early on to start the ball game Cezar started at the point and had to fight through some adversity with some guys picking up some quick fouls. He played toward his strength of shooting the basketball. I'm not surprised by the way he shot the ball tonight and he had great results because of it."
On having the lead throughout the entire game...
"You watch those guys on tape at UIC on UIC's home court and they won a really good game on the road. They play really hard on offense. They don't turn the ball over. We did a really good job at forcing them into some turnovers tonight. We've got a lot of respect for that program, they play really hard."
"We're going to have a great shooting team. I'm not going to make much of us not shooting the ball well because I think every night we're working. We're going to come in and guard the ball really well and I've got guys that can score the ball. We don't go into any game saying "we need to make shots". We're going to go in and defend, play hard, and find a way to score the basketball."
On the play of Terrell Carter II...
"Terrell's a guy that has worked really hard to get valuable minutes on the floor. He came in tonight and gave us a positive contribution. He was a physical presence in there. It was a good match up for him tonight, as it will be on Sunday because they have two really big post players on Rice's side. He's been working hard, and I'm pleased with where he's at with his progress."
Cezar Guerrero, Senior Guard
On his shooting tonight...
"Well that's just what happens when you keep at it in the gym and just keep on shooting. You have to trust in your teammates that they'll find you. Marvelle and my other teammates did a great job on that"
"It felt great. I've just been keeping at it at the gym. Having Marvelle and all my teammates look for me just felt great. Just knowing that your shot will eventually fall down and it was great."
Marvelle Harris, Senior Guard
On his team at this point in the season...
"I think we're doing a good job. Everybody is coming in, doing what they have to. I know early in the season we came together as a group and we established things that we all need to do in order to be the best team we can be. I think everybody's doing a great job."
"I'm just playing with my teammates. I saw that Cezar and some other guys were hot so I just try to get them the ball and keep feeding them the ball."
