Jaime White, Fresno State Head Coach
On the game…
"We were one Kelsey Plum away from winning that game. She's a nice player. She just took the game on her hands and I thought that fourth quarter is probably one of the best I've seen of a kid. We did everything we could."
"We got into a little bit of foul trouble so we had to back off a little bit. We out rebounded them, we had five players in double digits, and we had two kids with double-doubles. I thought we did everything we could to win the game."
"We could of shot from the three point line a little better, especially in the first half but we did a nice job in the second half. We turned the ball over a couple of times consecutively, which I think hurt us down the stretch."
On the fourth quarter…
"We could have done a couple of things, we could have gone into zone. We know they're nice shooters but I think we did a decent job on #3 (Talia Walton) who was 8-for-9 from the 3-point line against Santa Clara."
"We could have sucked in and tried to stop Plum's drives, but she just took it on her shoulders and she drove every time. She was 12-for-15 from the free throw line. She did a good job getting to the line. We were a little paranoid because she was driving and kicking so well in the first half that she just said I'm going to drive and this is my game. What are you going to do? She's a nice player. I think she was ranked top 10 in the country and probably an All-American."
On Moriah Faulk and Bego Faz Davalos…
"Not just in points, I'm just as pleased with the rebounds. Bego has seven offensive rebounds and Moriah had 11 total rebounds. I thought Toni (Smith) had some great moments too with 14 points. Breanne (Knishka) kept hanging around and knocking some down. I thought Shauqunna (Collins) did a good job of pushing some tempo when she had it."
"Again, I just think we need to clean up a couple runs here and there, take care of the ball a little bit, and work on the zone. They went to a zone and they're big. I think that bothered us just a little bit but other than that I felt a lot better about this game. I feel we play with a team like this, who's going to do well in the Pac 12, I think we can play with anybody."
On George Washington…
"You just go back to the drawing board. Everyday we want to get better and every game we want to get better. George Washington will come in with a different type of team. They're big but they're a little quicker. They're going to run up and down the floor. I think we're going to have to get our game plan together and come out to go for the win."
Bego Faz Davalos, RS Sophomore Center
On second quarter adjustments...
"It was definitely my teammates. My teammates were screaming and supporting me. I think that was key in the game."
On block at end of first quarter…
"I was just hearing my teammates and that got me hyped up."
Moriah Faulk, Senior Guard/Forward
On making three 3-pointers in a row...
"Coach White called a lot of plays for me. I felt comfortable shooting because Bego had 16 boards so even if I missed I had confidence in her getting the rebound and putting it back up."
On size match up and physicality...
"I would say that we are outsized a lot, especially in the preseason. Against George Washington we'll probably be outsized there too. We just have to get used to it. We play really physical in practice against the our [male practice players] so I think that really helped prepare us for this team."
