`Dogs Open Jack Kramer Invite

ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif. - The Fresno State women's tennis team began play at the Jack Kramer Invitational on Thursday by winning six matches.
The day started with the doubles teams of Maiar Sherif Ahmed and Rana Sherif Ahmed, and Sophie Watts and Emma Wilson winning their opening matches to advance to the round of 16. Doubles play will resume on Friday at 8 a.m.
In singles play, three Bulldogs will compete in Friday's Round of 32. Both Ahmed sisters advanced with straight-set victories. Ninth-seeded Rana defeated Inge Hendrikx 7-6, 7-6 and Maiar breezed past Marlou Kluiving, 6-2, 6-3.
Third-seeded Sophie Watts went into a tiebreaker with Tatijana Shekhan to earn her spot in Friday's round. Watts will begin singles play for the `Dogs on Friday at 10:30 a.m.
