Head Coach Jamie White
Opening Statement…
"I was very pleased with tonight's game. We have a new group and different team. For the most part, I felt good about everything. I thought we shot the three-pointer well, especially in the first half, which was nice to see. I thought we could have rebounded a little better, we try to get 40 per game, but turnovers, I thought we turned the ball over a few too many times. I thought there were moments when we were going to bust out and go out on a 10-0 run, but we let them come back. I thought they had nice players, Laci Effenberger was a great shooter and we had to try and contain her, but for the most part, I thought they gave us a great game."
On play of the bench...
"Brittany Aikens got six assists and thought that was great. As a team, we got 17 assists, I think that is good. Kendra Martin came in and knocked down a three and was quick and did a good job with defending the press. We are going to pressure full court and thought we did great. At times, there were a few breakdowns, but you want those to learn from. To have Moriah Faulk's ability to come off the bench is nice, I thought we had a good rotation and gave some players some breaks. Emilie Volk coming off the bench is a good thing. Some of these players have not played, so we have to give them some time where we can and hopefully build on that."
Senior Guard Shauqunna Collins
On the 3-pointers early in the game…
"I thought Alex Furr's 3-pointers at the beginning of the game really sparked us and got us going. I feel like anytime someone hits a three-pointer it get you going, but her hitting two 3-pointers really got us back on track playing Fresno State basketball."
Senior Forward Toni Smith
On physical play…
"I feel like it was hard to be physical. You want to be physical, but the referees are so precise and little stuff you can't get away with. It is going to take a while for us to get used to how the physicality can go and I felt like we did a good job with the first game of the new rules adjusting to it."
