Ahmed Named Sysco Student-Athlete of the Week

Ahmed won the Jack Kramer Invitational singles championship on Nov. 8, her first collegiate tournament title. She defeated Washington's Stacey Fung 6-1, 7-5 in the final match. Along the way, she knocked off No. 43 Lauren Marker of Arizona and No. 114 Zoe Katz of USC, both in straight sets. She also finished runner-up in the doubles competition with her sister Rana.
On Nov. 12, Ahmed will begin play at the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. She earned one of 10 at-large selections after finishing runner-up at the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional two weeks ago. The 32-player field features 15 tennis players who are ranked in the top 25.
