FRESNO, Calif. --- The Fresno State men's basketball team turned in a strong defensive effort to pound past Pacific 71-52 on Saturday evening at the Save Mart Center.
With the win, Fresno State (7-3) improved its home winning streak to eight consecutive games dating back to last season - two shy of tying the Save Mart Center record of 10 straight home wins set back in 2006.
"This was one of our more complete games," Fresno State head coach Rodney Terry said. "We played well on both ends of the floor. I thought our guys played really hard for us defensively. I thought they also played really hard for us offensively. In tonight's game, they really did what we practice and they did it at a high level."
Bulldogs' junior wing Paul Watson scored a game-best 15 points, while junior forward Karachi Edo recorded his fifth career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. As a team, Fresno State finished with a season-high 17 assists and forced a season-best 20 turnovers.
A layup from Torren Jones broke a 10-all tie midway through the first half, and Fresno State cruised from there, heading to halftime with a 12-point lead and winning the second half 37-30. The Bulldogs led by as many as 24 points with 5:35 left in the game.
Watson was 4 of 8 from the field and 2 of 3 on 3-pointers. He and Edo were two of six Bulldogs to score at least eight points in a balanced scoring attack.
Pacific (1-7) shot just 33 percent from the field with T.J. Wallace leading the Tigers with 13 points and Ilias Theodorou had 10 points and six rebounds.
