FRESNO, Calif. – Student-athletes of the Fresno State baseball, lacrosse, equestrian, women's golf and swimming and diving programs recently volunteered at a pair of Toys for Tots Drives in the Fresno area.
Last Thursday, at the Oakmont of Fresno retirement home, members of the baseball team, women's golf and lacrosse teams interacted with folks at the home and helped collect presents as they were dropped off.
Members of the equestrian and swimming and diving programs also volunteered their time this holiday season helping out at the Rock the Lot Toy Drive this past Sunday. The head coaches of both of those programs were very excited about their student-athletes being a part of such a great cause.
"I am very proud of our department and the swimming and diving program for their efforts in community service," said swimming and diving head coach Jeanne Fleck. "It is so important that we take the time to support our community that supports Fresno State Athletics."
Equestrian coach Eric Hubbard echoed Fleck's sentiments, "I am proud of our student-athletes that give back to our wonderful, and supportive Bulldog community. It shows the character and kind-hearted individuals that want to give back."
Finally, on Wednesday at the men's basketball game against CSU Bakersfield, the annual Teddy Bear Toss will take place as fans are encouraged to bring a stuffed animal to throw on the court at halftime. Track and field and swimming and diving student-athletes will be on-hand to help as all toys will be donated to Toys for Tots and help directly support children living in the Central Valley.
