Calubid Earns 13th Place Finish in Hawai'i

John Burns Intercollegiate Final Results 
LIHUE, Kaua'i - The Fresno State men's golf team concluded the John A. Burns Intercollegiate with its best round of the tournament, while freshman Harold Calubid shot one-under par to move up the leaderboard and finish tied for 13th overall.
"Great finish for our freshman Harold," said head coach Chad Spencer. "Hopefully he can ride the momentum as we go straight to Pepperdine's event from here."
Calubid rebounded on Friday with his best tournament score, 71, after shooting a 75 on Thursday. He opened the Burns Intercollegiate with a 72 on Wednesday. The freshman's three day score of 218 was one off his season-low - 217 at the Fresno State Nick Watney Invitational. Though five tournaments, Calubid owns a 73.13 scoring average.
Fresno State began Friday with three of five Bulldogs birdieing their first holes. At one point Fresno State was six-under as a team during the first nine holes, but a string off bogeys at the end of the day kept the 'Dogs from gaining much ground on the leaderboard. Fresno State moved up one position from where it started the day, closing out the tournament in Hawai'i with a 12th place finish.
"We had a great round going today with a few holes to play, but stumbled," Spencer said. "Many good things to build on though, I'm looking forward to the next tournament."
The men's golf team will be back in action Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 23-24) at the Jones Invitational at Valencia Country Club. Pepperdine is the tournament host.
