Team Notes
Fresno State's victory snapped a six-game losing streak to New Mexico. Before Saturday night's 59-55 win, the last Bulldogs win over the Lobos was an 86-80 win on January 4, 1999.
At the half, Fresno State led 32-25 and they are now 12-0 this season when leading at halftime.
The victory was key for the Bulldogs to maintain their grip on the sixth spot in the Mountain West standings. The No. 6 spot is the final spot for a team to secure a first round by and avoid having to play four games in four nights to win the conference tournament. With UNLV winning against Wyoming, Fresno State needed the win to keep its two-game cushion over the Rebels for the No. 6 seed. A Fresno State win on Wednesday will clinch a spot in the quarterfinals.
Fresno State is 6-3 this season when they hold their opponent to 59 points or less. The Bulldogs are also 6-3 in games that are decided by five points or less this season.
Karachi Edo scored the first basket of the game at the 18:58 mark in the first half and Fresno State led the rest of the way.
