Update from Jim Bartko to the Red Wave

Hello Red Wave!
I'm approaching my first full month on campus and I'm loving it - we're working hard, moving fast and excited about our future. Over this past month I've been out and about across town meetings with many different people and I finally am starting to get to the point where I'm not relying on my GPS to get me everywhere I'm going.
I've enjoyed seeing an electric atmosphere at the Save Mart Center for our men's and women's basketball teams. We need your continued support there as we are in the stretch run of the season.
We've also had some exciting news transpire that will benefit a number of our sport programs. We'll be giving the North Gym a facelift, Margie Wright Diamond will be getting some needed amenities and then our soccer and lacrosse programs will get renovated locker rooms and a new playing surface in their stadium. All of this was made possible thanks to a combination of University and philanthropic support. I'm coming to learn that there is great chemistry building between athletics and the University and that there is a deep passion in the community to see the Bulldogs succeed.
As we continue to move forward, we'll be announcing our plans of how we will proceed in the future. Later this month I'll be holding a press conference to lay out our five-year vision. All of us in Bulldog Athletics will continue to raise our department up with the University and do everything we need to do to position ourselves as the premier athletic department in the Mountain West.
We will be very open and straight-forward with the community on our vision of where we want to go.
I've loved the feedback I've received, please continue to write. Thank you for your support in the past and as we move towards the future.
Best,
Jim Bartko
